PCDC Helps Develop Job Shadow Program
PCDC Partners with Forest County Potawatomi Community and
Forward Service Corporation for 2009 Job Shadow Program
CRANDON, WI, December 2, 2008 – In partnership with the Forest County Potawatomi Community and the Forward Service Corporation, the Potawatomi Community Development Corporation (PCDC) announces the development of a Job Shadow Program for Crandon School District high school juniors and seniors.
The 2009 Job Shadow Program will allow high school juniors and seniors the chance to shadow a Forest County Potawatomi employee in a field related to their interest – social work, accounting, graphic design, physical therapy, welding- and many others. To date, eighty percent of participating students have been matched with an FCP employee. For students interested in careers outside of FCP’s capabilities, PCDC and Forward Service Corporation are matching students in surrounding businesses in Forest County.
Aside from learning about different careers, students will have the opportunity to tour the Forest County Potawatomi facilities, including the Health and Wellness Center, the Executive Building, the Recreation Center and the Museum. Students will also be given a brief history lesson on the Forest County Potawatomi tribe and the chance to listen to a presentation from tribal administration and two guest speakers over their lunch hour.

We’re hopeful it will serve as an eye-opener to the educational credentials and technical expertise these opportunities will demand of them in the future. “
